Senior Coach announcement
Frankston Dolphins FNC is delighted to announce the appointment of Taylor Stratton as Senior Coach for the 2024 football season.
Returning to the Dolphins where he played football as a junior, Taylor joins us from Hastings FNC where he has been a key member of their midfield group for several years, and was a playing Senior Assistant Coach in 2014, 2015 and 2021. He also previously held the Senior Coaching role at Crib Point FNC in 2016.
Taylor has an impressive football background, having played MPFNL, SFNL and VFL at both Frankston and Sandringham. He has represented senior leagues at Interleague level, made the Vic Country squad in 2013, been selected in Teams of the Year at senior level 3 times, and boasts more than 150 games of senior football experience. With that background, we are confident that Taylor will be a great addition to our midfield group and a great football mentor to our younger players.
Taylor will be assisted by Jack Birthisel, who will continue in his role as Senior Assistant coach and Under 19’s coach, while Jac Trewhitt will continue as Reserves coach. The Committee is confident that we have the foundations in place to build on our success of the last 2 seasons and approach 2024 with a great coaching group in place.
Taylor’s appointment follows the resignation of Rich Mathers as Senior Coach following Rich’s decision to pursue employment opportunities in Western Australia. Rich leaves the club with a wonderful legacy, having overseen two very successful seasons and taking our senior team to consecutive grand finals, the most recent in the club’s first season in Division 3.
We thank Rich for everything he has done over the past two years in terms of football and player development. Knowing that he will always be a part of the Dolphins family, we wish Rich, wife Bianca and their three boys all the very best as they embark on their new adventure, and we look forward to welcoming Taylor, his partner Brooke and their two daughters to the club.
